State One-act
Play Competition

In an effort to recognize excellence throughout our state, the Indiana Thespians Chapter hosts a Regional and State One-Act Play Competition!

To compete in this event, you must have a registered Thespian Troupe. Schools have a total of 45 minutes to set up, perform, and strike their competition play. For more information on the rules, guidelines, and expectations of this event, please read the Play Competition Handbook linked below.

While trophies are awarded and schools advanced from the Regional level to the State competition, ours is designed to be a friendly competition. All troupes who enter the competition work hard to present their best work, often under financial or time constraints.  The Indiana Thespians Chapter wishes to encourage the highest level of camaraderie and sportsmanship in these and all other events!
The first step to competing in the One-Act Play Competition is to bring your show to a Regional Conference in the fall. Up to two schools from each regional will advance to the State Finals at our State Conference in January.

First, you should fill out the "Intent to Compete" form to secure the regional location you desire. Competition spots fill up FAST, so don't wait! Once your spot is secured, you will register your students to attend the regional where you will be competing. This is a second form, which can be found on the Regional Conference page of this website. For regional locations, dates, and registration, please see our REGIONAL CONFERENCE page.

The Intent to Compete form will open on August 14 at 9amET/8amCT
