NOTICE OF OPENING

POSITION:                               Theater Teacher, Director of Theater Arts (Two [2] Positions)

                                                            English Teacher Preferred

                                               

LOCATION:                             Floyd Central High School / New Albany High School

 

QUALIFICATIONS:       The applicant should:

          1.          hold or be eligible for Indiana Secondary English and Theater Licenses;

          2.          have experience in teaching and leading acting, stage and technical aspects of theatrical productions;

          3.          have demonstrated superior ability in working with peers, superiors in accomplishing cooperatively-developed educational goals;

          4.          possess superior characteristics for representing a positive public relations image;

          5.          demonstrate a positive understanding of the educational needs of the high school adolescent;

          6.          excellent communication and collaborative skills to work with staff, community and post-secondary partners, parents, and theater organizations;

          7.          have a working knowledge of computers, data base, spreadsheets, word processing and printers;

          8.          have knowledge and experience with theatrical productions including musicals, drama, comedy, and other related genre;

          9.          highly organized with ability to plan for and meet deadlines; attention to detail; self-directed;

      10.          such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of School Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:              Building Principal

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  The major responsibilities focus upon:

  1. prepare an annual performing arts calendar;
  2. produce two to four major productions per year;
  3. coordinate maintenance of auditorium and maintain a master calendar of auditorium usage;
  4. serve as sponsor of the school’s Thespian Troupe;
  5. receipt and expend all funds in compliance with State Board of Accounts procedures and School Board policies;
  6. develop and maintain accurate budget and inventory information;
  7. maintain a clean, safe environment and arrange for auditorium to be ready for use;
  8. promote and maintain a positive image for the theater program and acting as a liaison with community agencies, such as the parks department, in connection with student activities;
  9. such other duties as may be assigned by the principal or his/her designee.
